About

Built from Experience

At Waterman Web Design & Digital Strategy, I help businesses and nonprofit organizations navigate the website design and development process.

I spent the early part of my career managing digital marketing campaigns and collaborating with agencies and developers to build websites and mobile apps, and I understand what it's like to be sit on the other side of the table. At the time, I didn’t always have the technical knowledge and expertise to understand all of my options or know what made the most sense.

That experience still shapes how I work today. I started Waterman Web to offer a more personal and down-to-earth experience, and to help clients understand their options and make decisions they feel good about.

Today, I specialize in designing and building websites for organizations that need an upgrade or are launching something new. Over the last 12+ years, I’ve been fortunate to work with dozens of businesses and nonprofits, with every project coming through referrals.

I'm a University of Texas alum based in Durango, Colorado, where I live with my wife, Katie, our daughter, Sadie Lou, and our dog, Tanner.

If your website or the systems behind it could use some help, please reach out and we can see if it's a good fit.

The Heyday Group

I had the privilege of working with the good folks at Heyday, an award-winning residential real estate team with over 40 years of residential real estate experience, to design and build their website.

This website was launched and recently updated to spotlight their expansion into the Colorado. A top priority was building and configuring the content management tools in a way that will enable the Heyday team tackle content updates, like adding testimonials, managing team members, showcasing new properties and changing property listing statuses in-house.

Bexa Equity Alliance

I designed and built a new website for the Bexa Equity Alliance, a nonprofit expanding access to no-cost Bexa Breast Exams for women in need. The site highlights BEA’s life-saving work, introduces the team behind the mission, and makes it easy for individuals, sponsors, and community partners to get involved.

Behind the scenes, the website is built for simple ongoing content management, including events, sponsors, and blog posts. It also connects newsletter signups directly to BEA’s Mailchimp account through an API integration, reducing manual work for the team.

The Moody Foundation

Working in alongside the team at Too Good Strategy, who provided wireframes, design direction, and branding guidelines, I rebuilt the website for the Moody Foundation, a Texas-based nonprofit that’s pledged $1 billion to transform education in Texas by 2035.

The new site highlights the foundation’s historic impact, including a robust grants section featuring more than 1,000 grantees funded over the last six years. Behind the scenes, I built the site to make ongoing updates easier for administrators, including tools to add or edit grantees individually or in bulk through a streamlined import process, along with flexible options for publishing news, blog posts, and static content.

MCH Transportation Co.

MCH Transportation has been a leader in dedicated carriage for nearly 40 years, but its previous website no longer reflected the quality of its award-winning services or the people behind them. I designed and built a new responsive website that better showcases MCH’s bold brand, family-oriented culture, and appeal to potential drivers.

The project centered on elevating MCH’s team by integrating new and professional photos and videos, employee and driver stories, and highlighting testimonials site-wide. The result is a modern, people-focused website that highlights the staff, drivers, trucks, proven track record that make MCH stand out.

Austin Sunshine Camps

Working with the good folks at Too Good Strategy, who provided wireframes and design mockups, I was hired to build a new website for Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC), whose mission is to provide the magic of overnight camp without the barrier of cost.

The new website is designed and built to highlight the profound impact ASC has on so many campers and participates. The reworked layout and design also make it easy for parents to find timely information about ASC’s camps. Critically, the website is also setup to enable the ASC team to post or remove timely content, like announcements, application deadlines, career opportunities, and more.

The Center for Ethical Leadership in Media

Working in collaboration with Too Good Strategy, I built the website the Center for Ethical Leadership in Media, an initiative of The University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication, whose mission is to advance ethical culture in the news industry through training, research and education.

The site brings together leadership curriculum for students and professors, relevant research, center updates, and career-building tools for students pursuing work in media. It was also built to ensure content management can be managed in-house and with a scalable structure that can grow alongside the Center’s work. Most recently, the website’s navigation was reworked to showcase and reflect a growing list of new and featured resources.
